The suggestion that pensions should be means tested rather than just taxed in the Guardian is going to be very difficult to sell to those in their 30’s, 40’s and 50’s. Why then do they pay so much NI will be the counter argument. A restructure of tax is needed.
But I think we all knew these discussions were on the way. The impact on the Welfare State over the next few years as we head towards 2050 is going to be significant!
