I think covid has changed a lot of perspective. It reminded a lot of older people that they are mortal and that they are coming around the last bend. It is strange for me really because most of my life the call has been to older people to retire to make way for younger people to get work and experience. Now they are doing exactly that and government does not like it.
Property prices are falling now and many properties are available as landlords sell up in droves. Now we have a different problem. Interest rates are soaring and the lenders don’t want to lend. One very reliable commentator has said interest rates will hit 8 per cent this cycle as risk appetite falls away. Debt is at an all time high and the government paid a record amount in interest just last month. I see inflation everywhere. Especially food inflation.
