We keep our own tally of the spend through the year – we are making shorter periods of awards and really tackling those that have been in receipt for longer periods than we would expect. Each claimant is sent a budgeting letter to advise re claiming other income entitlements, moving, registering for a downsize, revising finances, seeking debt support, getting back into work – we advise in advance what we will have expected the claimant to do and do check that this is being done if they request a longer period. 🙂
