Thank you both for your advice; I appreciate it.

I am uncertain if there are any instances where Housing Benefit was paid longer than 4 weeks due to unavoidable liability. The tenants are currently staying in hotels or B&Bs while waiting to be rehoused, but it may take longer than 4 weeks, and they are requesting us to cover the rent until they are rehoused. We have been informed that the landlord has chosen not to enforce rent liability. Doesn’t that mean if they are not enforcing rent liability, there will be no rent arrears, which they are saying would affect their ability to be rehoused? Additionally, if there is no liability, can we still pay Housing Benefit?

I would appreciate any advice that could help us make a decision.
