I can't say I've had one but if I did I would apply the 52-week protection in accordance with the Reg you have quoted. Seems pretty clearly applicable. It also seems completely in keeping with the spirit of it, which is to give protection to someone who would otherwise suffer a benefit penalty because someone had died.
