Reply To: Arrears of Tax Credits


This issue was raised with Gail Knowles at yesterdays Unitary Benefit Managers meeting. Apparently arrears are being paid in installemnts. However, the award letter should say how much of the payment is arrears.

To calculate take
annual award,
minus total arrears,
divide this by the number days between assessment date and end date of award, then multiply by 7 for weekly amount.

Gail also stressed the importance of taking the annual award and not worrying about how the installments that are paid.
