I am not aware of any other LA that does not keep copies of corrspondence. At tribunals the judge requires us to show copies of corrspondence and decision notices which are scrutinised to check we have notified correctly and they often pick up any flaws or omissions. We have lost cases where the decision notice is not compliant. As far as i know there is nothing in the regulations that permit the abandonment of retaining correspondence, in fact I would think there is a legal requirement to retain correspondence for a period but I can't recall a particular reg that puts this in black and white.
