Ok, I get the reasoning behind this now. If under 25 and with SPD then [b:aa9a8b0275]if[/b:aa9a8b0275] they need to rent a one-bedroom property, they don’t get penalised with the young individual rule (i.e. only get shared room rate).

If 25 or over, then [b:aa9a8b0275]if[/b:aa9a8b0275] they need to rent a one-bedroom property, then they will of course get the one-bedroom rate.

Another query though – the LHA Guidance Manual (para 2.42) states that a young individual with SDP gets the one bedroom rate, regardless of the size of property they rent. Is this how others read it? Doesn’t this fall foul of Reg 13D(2)(a)(ii)? (i.e. only get one bedroom rate if they rent a property of at least that size)
