I suggest you ASK the customer for his doctors opinion re whether travel home is feesible
we know the rues and the requirements, your customer doesnt – and he is clearly down on his luck and in ill health.
if his knees are damaged. it is likely that the act of sitting (with knees bent) would make any journey very painful – and a journey of 100 miles may take several hours, even ithout comfort breaks – to come back to an empty(?) house with possible no support network.
If the doctor said that it is in the best intersts of the patints health to stay with his friend, thats medically approved care. Id be looking for a reason to slot in into the 52 week absence rules
