This is probably a stupid question, but it has been one of those weeks.

I have a single 24 year old who was on UC (in supported accommodation) so no severe disability premium in UC. UC ends and becomes a full time student. Can we still assess for HB, as she would get the SDP once assessed, but doesn’t until claim assessed.

Is it enough that she would qualify for SDP as in receipt of PIP Care to be eligible.

no such thing as a stupid question! 🙂

Full time students can get UC if they get PIP AND have a ltd capacity for work in their award – is this where you customer fails for UC? Its worth double checking UC refusal is correct as UC is a passported benefit for HB

But assuming UC cant be paid, being in receipt of PIP is suffiecient to make them an eligible student

Thank you, no she doesn’t get the ltd capability for work just PIP standard care. Happy to put into payment, did seem a bit harsh that she may not be eligible.
