Hi, we have a claim for a £500 T&T payment from a customer who lives in our LA area but was on holiday in Scotland when pinged by the Scottish NHS, who will not talk to us, and the English NHS claim not to be able to confirm anything from the Scottish NHS … Any advice on whether we can pay this, where he qualifies on all other grounds?

If you can't confirm his T&T ID number on the eligibility checker or on the phoneline then you can't make a payment from the national scheme.

We have set up a local scheme where we can pick up people like this who fall through gaps, but we think they still need help. It's effectively council money though it comes from grants from government that we only have because of Covid. As it's local it doesn't have to be the whole £500 either… or it can be more.

Strangely, we have one too who was working with someone who went back to Scotland and the person then tested positive. Our customer was in another area when he isolatted but I am considering under our discretionary scheme. My concern is that you can't check to see if they have claimed elsewhere – but hopefully that would come up on the return.
