I was wondering if anyone would mind sharing their procedure with regards to how they process appeals? We would like to increase our percentage of appeals that are sent to Tribunal within 4 weeks and would like some fresh ideas please!

Anything looking like a reconsideration/appeal is coded to a dedicated work queue. I have dedicated staff working on them – the appeals officer picks up in the first instance only those who say “appeal” in their letter. However it’s an easy job to prevaricate on (I’ve done it) and the only solution I have is to just write the thing. You may well find you need more information from the clt but at the end of the day the appeal is on the decision that was made at the time and if the clt starts giving new information you could be in a revison/supersession situation instead. In other words, you need to draw a line under it and get it off!
