We have received a claim from someone in supported accommdation, whose application has been signed by his brother, who says has been an appointee for several years for the DWP. We have never known he was appointee and the claimant has always signed their own HB application forms.

The brother has now said he no longer wishes to be appointee from January 2011 as he wishes the claimant to be more independant.

So I have a claim form signed by an appointee, who is refusimg to sign our form to accept him as appointee and no longer wishes to be one.

Do I need to get the claimant to sign the original claim form ?

    Thanks 8)

No, there is no requirement in the regs for a claim to be signed by anyone, and you accepted the claim as properly completed when it was made.
