I have got a claim for an armed forces accommodation. Can HB be paid in respect of an armed forces accommodation?

Your advice wouild be much appreciated.

    Thanks

You have not given enough information to give a definitive answer unfortunately. Generally speaking these kind of tenants are usually referred to as Crown tenants and they are not eligible to claim Housing Benefit.

If their tenancy has been terminated – but they continue to occupy against the landlords wishes then HB can be applied for and paid becuase they are no longer liable to pay rent but are liable instead to pay “mesne profits” or “violent profits”

I agree with what Caroline said above, with the exception to those renting from the Duchies of Cornwall and Lancaster or if their property is managed by the Crown Estates Commissioners in which case they are entitled to HB. However if your claimant is a Crown Tenant who is not eligible to HB they could possibly get IS, JSA(IB), ESA(IR) or PC(G) towards their rent.
