When looking at subsidy for B&B claims and the HB payment is for part of a week, do we pro rata this amount to a weekly amount and then work out the subsidy of above/below threshold or do we just take the actual payment and work out the subsidy? Many thanks.

    Hi Ryan,

No. You take the amount that is paid in that week and work out any amounts over the threshold without any pro-rata.

Watch out – on Civica it seems that an entitlement over 2 weeks of exactly 7 days calaculates a one week cap. Watch this space for more info…

Northgate doesn’t get the part week issue right either. Luckily we only have a handful of homeless cases so I can work out the correct subsidy manually

I had to do this manually as well as DA picked it up – 82 claims and 3 days work. Northgate are aware of the problem but have no bug fix, looking forward to next year…!!

303 cases last year & only 19 working days to complete the entire subsidy claim this year, I am praying for a fix.

I’ve just logged a call with Northgate regarding this as we have several hundred claims to look at over subsidy claim form cells 012, 013, 014 and 015 and I’m losing my sanity already…Ah the festive period… :santa:

If anyone’s interested, I’ll post the reply once I receive it.

When we queried this with Northgate they stated they had no plans for a bug fix!!

Ugh…they said the same thing last year when we identified the issue relating to two caps being applied to the same week where there was no change of address. They eventually did release a bug fix (WMS83526) but not until well after the deadline for the final year claim. Which meant lucky me got to manually work them out. Whatever their response is I’ll let you know.

    Hi
I would be very interested in Coling reply re this bug – we have same problem here, and may have to manually calculating subsidy.

    Morning folks,

I’ve heard back from Northgate now and was asked to run a full subsidy job (advised as the jobs noted on page 45 on the v6.4 release notes) with a SUB056 for 2011/12 prior to the run. I’m sceptical that this will resolve the issue as I’ve already run these jobs as part of the v6.4 release update, but was basically advised “the subsidy rules havent loaded properly”. I provided 8 examples of incorrect subsidy levels on claims, some of which were incorrect for different reasons, and having checked the first one, I was advised they wouldnt be checking any more, to run the jobs as detailed above, and that should fix it.

I’ve just finished running them in TEST and am about to do some re-checking. I’ll update this once I have any idea of what’s what.

    Morning all,

Subsidy run was put through as requested, and problem still persisted. I requested the call to be re-opened, which it was. Northgate have now checked it and advised issue will be fixed as part of 6.5 release under WMS 84789: SUBSIDY REFORM CLAIMS CAN HAVE WRONG SPLIT AMOUNTS WHEN CHANGING TENANCY.

Fingers crossed, but as the release has been put back to next week (FRiday I’m told), it wont be up and running until after the new year. We’ll have to wait and see.

Have a good festive all :santa:

    Afternoon all,

Just wanted to give an update to those interested. The bug fix release in 6.5 didnt work. I’ve been back in touch with Northgate and they seem a little more clear in their response that they know for definate where the problem lies and that details of it should be noted an upcoming bug bulletin. Basically the system is struggling to cope with benefit awards that are charged daily, based on a weekly cap that should not be applied pro-rata. The problem is appearing in claims where unders and overs have been applied (given that temp accom cases invariably have um-teen changes of address etc) this means problems are pretty wide spread.

The up side (if you can call it that) is that from the checking I’ve done, largely speaking the varience is minimal and tends to sort out across the cells in that if too little is showing in Cell 12, a close to balancing amount is showing to be too high in 13. This isnt bang on and I’m going to be having to do a fair bit of manual calc’ing of amounts again this year. Based on being in roughly the same postion last year, I dont imagine a fix will be in place any time soon given the laundry list of other things Northgate has to deal with from the DWP in the coming months/years.

Any questions or queries, please feel free to give me a shout.
