The scenario I have is that customer submitted a change in August this year. We find out through the details received that Non-deps have been living there since Jul 2009.

We had a Single Persons Discount on the ctax act. Informing our Ctax section the SPD was removed therefore liability increased.

On calculating the claim an u/p is now due for the claimant back to July 2009 because Liability increased as now 100% charge. Do authorites write this off ?? I am on Northgate and unable to do a work around on the claim.

    Help gratefully received.

This is two changes – a change in the household and a change in liability. The former is not beneficial for CTB so you would go back with any deductions. The claimant does not have to report a change in the Council Tax charge so you would also go back and award any extra CTB. Different story for HB of course…
