Stumbled across DWP’s annual Resource Report 2006/7 published in July 2007 and note that one of its (claimed) successful outcomes for the year was further simplification of Housing Benefit.I must have missed it somewhere along the line and have been racking my brain but can’t think of anything that would justify such a claim unless the 3-page HB/CTB claim put in place by The Pension Service.
Got us thinking in this office about changes that might not cost the earth but would introduce some simplification to HB/CTB.My own view is that the roll out of the new LHA model from April has been a chance missed and, to keep costs down, is riddled with controls and phasing which will actually make HB administration more difficult.
Do any fellow contributors have a wish list of cost neutral or cost effective changes that would simplify HB/CTB administration.I seem to recall a previous thread on this but can’t find it now.

Looks like this report trumps out the same stuff. If you go to the select committe website you can view all the DWp evidence.
