    It has been argued on more than one occasion that a clmt with exclusive occupation of a room, or rooms, in a house may be able to avoid the “close relative” rule even if the L/L lives in the same “whole” property.

    I think CH/542/2006 finally puts that argument to rest.

    NB: I don’t think it affects cases where the “dwelling” is genuinely self-contained and separate from the L/L.

    That is really useful. Does anybody know of a CD where the issue of a half brother being treated as a close relative is dealt with?

    Er, yes….. 🙂

    Half-brothers / half-sisters count as “close relatives”.
