Can anyone help – I have a tax credit award notice that states CTC of £1991.04 dated 05/06/03. Originally the person was awarded £1991.04 CTC and £2537.68 WTC – award notice dated 18 February 2003 ~ Page 3 of the award states CTC due £1991.04 Paid £365.46 Balance to be paid £1625.58 with instalments of £148.88 on 27/06/03 and remainder at £147.67 every 4 weeks. WTC due £0.00 Paid £481.78, Overpaid £481.78.
Does anyone have any idea how this is to be treated?:21:

Closest I can get to their figures is:

    1991.04 – 365.46 interim payment = 1625.58

Remaining award spread over 306 days = 37.19 pw
    37.19 X 4 = 148.76 per 4 weeks (nearly 148.88 or 148.67!)

However, this way of working it out disregards the normal way of counting awards for those paid 4 weekly. It seems to have been calc’d using 1 weekly pay cycle method. (using 4 weekly method would lead to remaining award being taken into account using longer period – 315 days – so that would put the maths way out)

Any known reason why WTC hs dropped out?

Claimant finished work prior to April. However, if they have been overpaid WTC would this be recovered from CTC If so, should I remove WTC and reduce CTC to take account of this from Monday following second award notice or should I remove WTC from 07/04/03 and leave CTC at it’s original figure of £38.08 per week.

    Hmmm….

Not a scenario I’ve put much thought into but – wouldn’t the overpayment of WTC get deducted from next year’s award?

My *guess* about the way to deal with the WTC is to just go back to April 07 and remove it. There doesn’t seem to be any evidence of it being clawed back from CTC this year (according to the CTC figures stated in the second award notice.)

Maybe this will be dealt with in Amendment 4,326?
