I have a claimant who is in receipt of Child Benefit and Tax Credit for their grandchild, however they also receive fostering allowance (level 1) for the same child (they were granted special guardianship of the child). I am unsure whether to include the child fully on the claim and disregard the allowance, or to treat the child as a foster child and query the child benefit payment. I understand that if the child is deemed to be under local authority care and supervised in a household they are included, however the fostering payment and child benefit in this case seem to suggest this case is different. How would anyone else proceed? 😕

Are you sure that the different agencies involved know the claimant is getting a payment from the other ❓

According to the claimant they do. Tax Credits and Child Benefit wouldn’t give the info over the phone so am now waiting for a fax response 🙄
