If you knew of a claim where specific dates were given when child care was provided i.e. a start of one period which ends as the provider has ceased trading and then the customer registers the children with another child care provider should you put on the expense for ONLY the specific periods you know about or not?

I assume from your post that there is a period from when the old provider ceased trading and when the new provider began caring where you do not think that there were any child care costs. If that is the case, I do not think that you should be allowing for costs that did not exist. If there were no child care costs for a period then yoiu have no expense to allow for.
    Hope this helps. Carol

    thanks Carol

the customer said she still saved her money weekly for the expense as she knew she would have some in the future and thought that we should also take it into consideration – even thought there was no expense.

No expense for period “X” = no disregard for the same period.
