CIS and HB/CTB interest flag

    When our staff access CIS they check whether the HB/CTB interest flag is set so that we receive ETDs etc. It has come to light that they are not able to set the HB/CTB interest flag themselves if there is not already an IS/JSA/PC or CMS interest flag already set. Also they are not able to set the HB/CTB interest flag if there are already more than one interest flag set.
    Can I ask whether other authorities have this problem and what you do about getting the flag set? From distant memory we think that when we had the RAT we would send a list of the claims that needed the flag set to the DWP for them to set it for us. However nobody can remeber who we used to send the list to!

    We update the interests ourselves. The DWP issued a guidance document titled ‘registering and maintaining interests – desk aid 5′ back in May ’07’.

    This shows the step by step guide staff should follow.

    As far as I am aware we have not had any problems doing this.
