Very interesting but confused answer to a question about armed forces personnel and the Bedroom Tax. The ministers suggestion is that it is either a 70% discount which is more than the 14% discount. He clearly knows his stuff !!!!!!!!!!!!

I think he was talking about a non dep deduction of around £70 compared to a 14% reduction. Either way and forgiving his lack of understanding, the answer is sadly lacking. They are clearly trying to portray that these families are now better off because the 14% reduction is less than the £70 non dep charge !!!! Clearly £0.00 (as now) would have been less than the £70 non dep charge too, But 14% is clearly more than £0.00.

    sorry I misquoted him:

Mr Foster: The Government are well aware of these issues, which is why we made an additional £25 million available to help in relation to the disabled people the hon. Lady talks about, and it is why we have made an additional £5 million available in relation to carers. While armed forces personnel are living at home, the home would have a £70 per week discount, whereas while the person is serving, the discount would be only 14%—a very much lower sum.
