Claim in payment – partner dies on Sunday 6 August – what date should she come off the claim

I expected this to be Monday 7 August – however our system is not removing her until the 14th?

    Any thoughts?

I would have thought the 7th as well…change occurs on the Sunday and takes effect from the Monday following.

ah, but is the Sunday not treated as the begining of the week, therefore, they get an extra weeks benefit up to the 13th of Aug …….

but ctb liability should change on the 6th – as SPD is applied – i had problems then as ctax dept couldn’t apply this as an error message came up because there were two people on the claim!!!!

If jsa ends on a Sunday then it comes off from the following day so I’m still confused

Why is Sunday treated as the beginning of the week? Is there a “Beginning of the week for dead people” regulation I have missed?

End of IS/JSA entitlement is different – as the DWP have always told us, the termination date on the ETD is the last day of entitlement, and the date of change is the following day – hence, if the ETD shows IS end of entitlement on a Sunday, the change actually occurs on the following Monday, and therefore is effective for HB/CTB purposes on the Monday after that.

oops …… forgot the post was about ‘dead people’ ….. if I was to process this on our system, it would amend from the 6th for CTAX, wanting a SPD from the 6th, and would end the HB from the 7th for HB, being that you can’t award benefit for ‘dead folk’. 🙄

think I better go and have a cup of coffee, my concentration is way off this afternoon !! 😉
