I recently attended one of the IR’s presentations on Tax Credit renewals.

Three of the LA’s in attendance expressed their difficulty in contacting the IR. The phone nos. we were using were not the “designated LA no.”. Consequently, the trainer gave us a no. which they said was the “designated no.” ie/ 0845 300 3946.

Unfortunately, when processors have used this no. they are being told it is not the LA’s designated no. but the main no. for Citizens Advice.

Please, can someone put me out of my misery and advise me of the LA’s designated no. or any other no. which they are successfully contacting the IR on?

The number we use is 0845 300 3944

We have been told that this is for LA use and must not be given out to the public.

The public number is 0845 300 3900

0845 300 3944 is the number we have been using. We normally get an answer within a reasonable time.

Its the phone number police here.

It has come to my attention that this ‘ere message board is bein’ used to spread highly secret government info.

Might I suggest that, now that we have all seen the number, the users edit it out. We suspect that dangerous subversives (e.g. welfare rights operatives) use this board.

Before we know where we are, all kinds of “undesirable” people will be using our number. We’ll have to queue for 5 hours whilst the public number sits idle cos they are all using ours.

MI5 and MI6 suggest that if the query arises again, it could be answered by email.

P.S. I speak as a former Welfare Rights Subversive myself – now reformed. I also inadvertently posted the same number on a completely public website for about 6 months. However, I have now paid my debt back to society (Pension Credits Training) and wish to help others who may be tempted to stray.

Hi, dangerous subversive here.

I wouldn’t worry too much – we have enough trouble getting info through our own dedicated line – can’t see how we’d get on better through yours!!

Of course we would never think of using it anyway – we don’t do things like that!
