I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY OUR HOUSING DEPARTMENT THAT THE MORE DHP YOU SPEND ( UP TO THE PERMITTED TOTAL) THE MORE ALLOCATION OF FUNDS YOU WILL RECEIVE THE FOLLOWING YEAR. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THIS IS TRUE PLEASE.

In a nutshell that is correct. It isn’t quite that simple, in that if every LA spent their permitted total there would be a “status quo”, but the allocation of DHP nationally is affected by the amount the LA has awarded compared to others.

It’s based on the year before last, i.e. this year is based on spending for year 2004/05.

As this LA chooses not to add to the Government funding we’re in the crazy situation where our allocation goes up and down alternatively even though we pretty much spend it all each year.

This year we get around £60k but as next year our allocation will be based on 2005/06 it will go down to around £50k, as long as we spend it all this year in 2008/09 it will go back up to £60k again….and so it continues…..
