Disabled Child Tax Disregard

    i was reliably informed by a customer that all disabilty elements of child tax credits are disregarded – but unfortunately they had no proof of this despite saying they had written info from the IR to confirm it!

    i was told we are penalising the couple for having a disabled child and that it wasnt fair they were getting more benefit because of this.

    i tried to explain that the child got extra allowances for his disability and he receives the money and therefore it needs to be treated as income etc, etc… but he wasnt having it.

    now for the trickty bit……

    DOES anyone know if there are any rules/regs/hearsay (not the band) that may back this up.
