Do you have an Appeal Policy?

    Could you help

    During the last audit check we were asked to create an Appeals Policy. We have contacted our local colleagues but unfortunately no one seems to have written an Appeals Policy.

    Rather than reinventing the wheel if you already have a policy could I have a copy?

    I really don’t see why you would need one. Some auditors are a bit policy mad without necessarily knowing what it is they are after.

    If you are simply expected to state your expected turnaround times for appeals then that is one thing. If however you are required to state all of the legal aspects I don’t see the point. If the policy was going to say.

    We will notify everyone of the right to ….etc; and
    If someone makes an an appeal we will contact thenm to explain the decision or clarfy…?

    It really isn’t worth the paper it is written on. everything you do is provided for by statute, you can’t say that you are going to do anything but apply it. Why single out appeals? Do you say have a policy that states;

    We will notify everone in writing of the outcome of a benefit decision ?
