I’ve got a Dutch national came to UK on 07/01/09. Applied for HB on 16/04/09. He has provided a letter from an cultural and entertainment PR Agency which states he is employed with them from 14/04/09 to 14/07/09 as a graduate trainee, that he works full time for this period but is only paid £250 p/mth to cover travel expenses. Is he a qualified person as a worker?. Gets JSA (IB) from 20/07/09 so OK from then.

    Hi Jen,

I would suggest that he is probably a qualified person, however my concern would be whether the work is ‘genuine and effective’. I would accept the ‘genuine’ part, but could his job really be regarded as ‘effective’?

    Steve
