Does anyone know where in the legislation it says that a person has to notify the LA that they have moved into a property and think they should be liable to pay council tax? Does this provision exist at all?

I was sure that there was a provision somewhere but can’t find it. The A&E regs say that this sort of info has to be provided if the LA requests it. It also says that, once liable, a person has a duty to notify of changes relating to exemptions, discounts etc.

    Can anyone help? ❓ 😕 ❓

There is no provision in the legislation for a person to notify the LA when they have moved into an address. It is only once you have sent them a bill or an information request that they are under a duty to provide any information.
