I wondered if someone could point me in the right direction. I’m trying to confirm which countries are ECSMA members but can’t find clarificaiton anywhere.

A9/2006 mentions Turkey and Croatia. The training notes from the ALG mention Turkey, Croatia and Macedonia. Previous information I had mentioned Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey.

Does anyone know of anywhere I can check which countries I should be putting in my notes for staff?

This is an ever-moving target. My most current set of training notes had Ukraine in there as well (although after their performance the other night they shouldn’t be in anything!)

I would imagine that the correct up-to-date information is what is in A9/2006.

Note to self: update training notes in light of A9/2006!

You can find the lists of ratifications for the two treaties here:

    ECSMA:

    Social Charter:

There is a full list of Council of Europe treaties here:

I used to be convinced that Ukraine and Romania had ratified at least one, but as you can see they haven’t. It looks to me as if only Turkey, Croatia and FYR Macedonia are covered.

Just a word of warning here.
I emailed Adelphi with a query regarding A9/06 and was informed that another circular was due to be issued which would clarify some of the points mentioned. [quote:297491980a]will also be issuing a further circular as there are some issues that we are still trying to clarify with the Home Office! [/quote:297491980a]
It may well be worth hanging fire for this before doing any new training notes.
I just outlined the key points for our staff and advised them I would update the training notes as soon as the circular arrives.

Thanks for all the replies – good to know I’m not the only one that’s confused!

So how naive was I in thinking the most recent A-circular from DWP would have the correct info in it??
