This may sound flippant, but it’s not meant to be – don’t try writing your own.

I agree with Andy. Here we wasted 2 years and £20,000 before we drew the same conclusion.

Thanks both – did either of you actually get an elecronic PM in the end? If so, would you recommend it.

I’ve been involved in various projects to set up electronic procedure manuals and they all floundered. I did work briefly at one authority where they had the deluxe version of the Comino system, which is a lot more than a DIP system, and they had successfully integrated their library of training material, procedures etc into that.

I would agree with Andy and Jeff.
If it could be got right, there would be a great return in terms of circulating info etc – but I have never come accross a system that would work the way we wanted it to. 🙄
(If anyone has developed one in the meantime, get in touch. All for progress – when it’s what we want!!) 8)

    We did one once.

It was done prior to us moving onto Academy when we had an in-house processing system & was/has never been updated ever! It is difficult to use & did not have any of the relevant regs attached to any parts of it.

It is so out of date it is unbelieveable & yet we are still told to refer to it – pointless!

    DON’T GO THERE!

We use the David Airey on line procedures which has our in house policies and procedures added to it.

As and when we need a procedure – we type it up – send it to David’s team and they put it in the right place under the LA procedures

    Works for us

An important aspect with an electronic manual is the ability to update and apply changes quickly.

There is a manual available that provides this.

A good manual should incorporate not only regulations and procedures but also all useful training, contact and general information.

Please contact me direct if you require any information

We’re the same as Dawnie, we use the david airy online procedure manuals. But its still a struggle to get the teams to use them instead of the paper zeberdee’s!

    Don’t buy them then!
