    Just checking :-

    My scenario is customer is now living with new partner. He is under 60. He makes a claim for HB. Declares second property – former home occupied by his partner who is 61.(no children)

    Am i right in thinking that we cant disregard the capital value because my customer is not single???

    HB Schedule 6 states:-
    4. Any premises occupied in whole or in part—
    (a) by a partner or relative of a single claimant or any member of the family as his home where that person is either aged 60 or over or incapacitated;

    Thanks

    She’s no longer his partner if he’s got a new partner is she? And even if the claimant was single then it would still not be disregarded if they’re no longer together (although other disregards may apply re disposal etc etc).
