HA servcies charges

    A local HA have been included the costs for Graffiti removal and replacing smashed glass in communal front door as service charges. Should these be covered by HB?

    In my view, so long as the charges are genuine, they are eligible simply as rent; not even service charges. I would see such “costs” as being general LL overheads in relation to maintenance of the premises – most LLs will incur overheads that fall broadly into the same “head”.


    I agree with Kevin.

    The only reason I could see for the HA to identify those costs would be if it had leaseholders in the same block, and for them it would be a proper service charge rather than just part of the rent
