In November 2005 we moved over to a paperless office using Anite.

Documents that come into the office are scanned and returned, no problem but we have a lot of other pieces of post that once scanned we retain the hard copies of ( rent officer decisions, claim forms etc etc).
We are rapidly running out of space in the office.
Does anyone know how long we are required to keep these hard copies for? There is a bit of a dispute in the office, some say three years, some say 6.
If we know how long we have to retain them we can hopefully obtain storage space somewhere in the building.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

We currently keep the hard copy of documents for just over 6 months.

They are kept on site for about a month, then moved to storage for the remaining 5. At the end of this time they are destroyed.

We then keep the data files for the appropriate amount of time.

    Hope this helps

    Thanks that’s a big help.
