What a jolly day. Was most impressed with DWP speakers πŸ˜‰

They restored my faith in the DWP fully. So erudite on all aspects of UC.
One quote I particularly liked “UC will not be administered by LA’s so don’t fight battles you can’t win”.
Now time for my medication…………… :O

Well, they are clearly prepared should HMRC not manage to get the real time PAYE stuff up………….

And who was the girl in the green Bikini? Mrs Jacobs?

For those of us that could not get to the Conference, can anyone provide any further detail on what the DWP speakers had to say please ?

Forget the DWP speakers – what about this bikini-clad lady? And are there pictures?

You’ll have to wait till Ghita emails the slides. I definately looked at her instead of the sunbed. :p
Also thought the chap who didn’t need a microphone was very amusing too.

Behind the smiles the message taken away was pretty grim for the bulk of L/A benefit staff πŸ™

That cavalry that was spoken about a few months ago……..it ain’t coming. :tired:

As we shuffled out at the end, it felt like a scene from Schindlers List. Bill Hern from the DWP encapsulated our choices:

    * be slowly tortured to death by 2017, or
    * take the medication and then ethanasia (may be legal by then) at the same destruct date. :((

“You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.” 0:)

P.S. I thought Danny De Vito was a class act πŸ˜€

Well of course the DWP are going make comments like that. They are hardly going turn around and say this UC thing, actually we have made a mistake, are they… What they say and what happens are two seperate things.

As Iain has pointed out, the least resistance the better for the DWP. Without knowing the context that this quote was given in, it seems rather defensive.

My recollection was Paul Howarth saying (paraphrased) that fighting the integration of HB into UC was a battle that could not be won BUT that fighting for LA involvement may be worthwhile. Maybe Bill Hern redressed this later – I missed his bit.

Through the mist I can remember BH saying something about the future being L/A staff sitting down in our reception areas and helping customers make a claim on a DWP terminal. Satisfying stuff :p
