We keep getting mis-matches from HBMS saying that they have a claimant in receipt of Bereavement Benefit when we have the person receiving either WPA, WMA or WP.

For a start does Bereavement Benefit even exist and secondly does anyone else have this problem and if so what have you said to HBMS to stop it occurring?

Yes we do and I e-mailed them. I was told it would be looked in to, nothing yet though.

I wonder if anything would happen if enough of us complain about the same thing?

Glad to hear it’s not just us.

I will report the same thing and await to hear from them…

My pet peeve is **TC003 (failure to declare a partner whilst claiming TC).

When you contact Tax Credits they tell you ” you do not have access to that date”

What’s the point of arule when TC won’t tell you the name of the supposed undeclared partner?? 👿

Had a few matches this month, and what I have done is changed the income code to read widowed bereavement allowance – hoping this will be enough to stop mismatch. Have emailed hbms to advise them also no reply.

We use WBA as BB but still get the matches

This may be out of date now but when i was converting our system against all the income codes i had to put a separate HBMS code which matched the code used by the matching service eg WPA – Widowed parents allowance has a HBMS code of 88.

It was this code ’88’ rather than the system income code or description which was used for matching by HBMS.

Depending on the structure of your authority and what system you use(ours is Northgate), you may not be aware of these ‘background’ details held against income details
