We have several properties owned by our Housing Services that have been let to Social Services, to be used for tenants coming out of rehabilitation.

The tenants therefore are sub tenants who pay their rent to Social Services who inturn pay the rent to Housing (Housing stock).

The rents charged are not excessive. Do they need referring to the Rent Officer?

It’s not a rent rebate in the strictest sense as Social Services are the tenants and the claimants are actually liable to pay the rent to Social Services. As Social Services are not likely to be RSL and are not registered charities etc. then the rents will need to be referred. I believe you could, if it is one scheme operated by Social Services, do a specimen referral that covers the properties in question. I would suggest you discuss that with the RO in your area.

Do I know what I'm doing? The jury's out on that........................
