    Hi

has anyone found a way to interrogate the SHBE data? I would like to know how many ATLAS CIC we have had – which is field 254 code 15 and according to Northgate we can’t do this – apparantly the SHBE database is now obselete via Business objects

seems daft to me that we can’t interrogate our own data when the DWP can

    any help folks?

    thanks

Ooops! Having checked with “them what know” I’m told that Scan Plus doesn’t report change source ATLAS (it’s a bug). However I devised my own Business Objects report to check on what my users had been doing: Calculation date (equal to or greater than date ATLAS started)/Calc change source (CATLAS)/ Change of circs flag (Y)/ Income support indicator (N)

    Hi,

We have been doing some work using the .dat file that we send to DWP, it depends on who extracts and sends the data for you but you should be able to get a copy of the file (similar to the old HBMS raw data file)that you can put in to Excel(need excel 2007 as file is too big for lower versions) and interogate, it contains every single claim/fieled that is sent.

Following on from Lauara’s post. If you are on Northgate (UNIX), the file created monthly is in a directory on your server call /spp/spool/SHBELIVE/data and the filename will be OCT-2011.dat

Adding to the previous comments, we are Northgate and I can still Business Objects to access the SHBE file. More correctly, we now use Desktop Intelligence which I understand to be a higher version?? of Business Objects !? I am no techie by the way ..

In Desktop Intelligence I select SHBE universe
    then
    # the selection criteria or ‘conditions’ is in folder Field Status and = Filename. Then select most recent file (don’t forget to Refresh).
    then
    # in the Results Objects, select from folder Extract File Content chose ‘Text’

This still works for me and the beauty is that the resulting file is sorted in Claim Record Type so all the A’s are listed first and then C and the D records and I guess it is the D records – claims live and in payment – are the main ones you want to interrogate Dawnie? And of course I can access it whever I need to.

When this file is copied into Excel 2003 which we use, all the D records are included as we have a live caseload of 10,700 D records and SHBE has 21,000 rows which fits in Excel 2003’s limit of 65,000 rows. I accept that not all the fields are available as Excel 2003 is limited to 256 columns but all the fields I really need are included.

I am using SHBE for October to try to figure out the impact and the new Council Tax scheme.

Yes, by all means access SHBE via the file for DWP, but methinks this is sorted in claim number and then by Claim Record Type – meaning that for any LA with a high caseload then not all the D records will fit into Excel 2003. Also – you may be reliant on ‘those who know’ how to find the file!

Poste with sincere apologies to all Grannies who already know how to suck eggs

    Best of luck!!
