Does anyone use a pre-populated form for interventions that shows the details that are already held on a claim?

If so, has your experience shown that this deters claimants from reporting changes in circs that later come to light from a HBMS data match?

Do you know what the BFI’s view is of using such forms?

    Hi,

We use prepopulated forms. They get a covering explanatory letter and the form, which consists of a single sheet of A4. The front gives the claim summary details under the different headings (eg your income, people who live with you etc). The back has 2 declarations. One to sign to say all the details are the same, and the second to declare changes with a box to detail the changes etc.

Prior to April we used to send out blank (shortened) applications and we havent found much of a difference in the number of people reporting changes.

It has however made the intervention process easier for both the customer and us.

    Mark,

How does the prepopulation work – do you have specific software to do this ?

Mark, would it be possible for you to send me a copy of your form plus the covering letter?

    Thanks

    Kelly,

We use IBS and its a standard feature. Its what is actually used for Visiting Officer statements, but we merge the details onto a form instead.

Thanks Mark – sounds the best way forward for IBS users.

Hi Mark – is it possible you could also forward me a copy of your form, declaration and covering letter. I’m not convinced I will get this past the fraud team but it’s well worth a try.

    Many thanks 😀

    Hi Mark,

Any chance i could jump on the bandwagon and ask for a copy of your form, declaration and covering letter?

I am also doubtful our fraud team will let us use it but no harm in trying.

    Thanks,

    James

Relax, I am not after a copy of the form and letters.

I was just a little concerned at a couple of recent posts. Particularly the “I probably won’t get it past the fraud team”, comments.

It looks like the tail wagging the dog.

Certainly, I would expect you to consult the fraud team and take on board any comments they may have, but the final decision should be a benefits one.
