This is I admit a bit frivolous. I started dealing with an appeal case in 1997. There then followed a long series of appeals on the same issue. The issue was that there was a non-dependant in the 1 bedroom property who the claimant stated was their carer. We never disputed their status as a carer but found that the law did not allow them to be disregarded because the claimant did not have a qualifying benefit and the carer was not provided by a charity to whom the claimant had to make a payment.

Anyway there was a series of appeals some of which when to Tribunal where the appellant raised objectiveness to just about every chairman! Anyway the an appeal eventually went to the Commissioners – but was struck out because the appellant used obscene language to describe the tribunal chairman and refused to withdraw the written statement. This was in January 2007.
So I have been dealing with this case for 10 years.
    Can anyone beat that!

    Just wondered

    Almost 😀

I have been trying to persuade the DWP to investigate a claimant since 1998.

I sure he’s dodgy as he is on i/s but is paying back hundreds of pounds a month in credit card debts.

Despite this they won’t investigate as he’s the sort or person who goes running to his MP and the papers the moment he’s contacted. 😕

    Nice try 😆

But why can’t you own investigation staff look into it? Or am I missing the point.

Because of Menear. As the DWP won’t investigate they say i/s is properly in payment.
