Multiple COC and rent increases…efefct on LHA

    We have a claim commenced on 20.10.08, rent payable at £420pcm, however there was also a rent increase letter at the time saying rent going up to £525 on 31.10.08

    1 . were we right to apply the £420pcm and not the £525pcm

    on 28.10.08 ptnr and 2 deps moved in so LHA Rate changed

    can i as rent increase and No of occupants changed in same beenfit week apply changes from that monday, or can i change the LHA rent to new rate due to change in OCCS, it seems unfair that claimants will loose out for the sake of 10 days

    help as my mind now exploded into many bits !!!! 🙄

    Gonna take a stab at it

    1. Correct – rent applied wef 20/10/08 should be £420.00

    You should then show the rent increase wef 31/10/08 & give decision based on revised rent amount.

    Partner & non-deps moving in will mean a revision of the LHA rate wef 3/11/08 which means that the higher rent can be taken into account from this date
