    Morning all

Not sure if you have seen the new National Indicators, two of which are benefit-related, including measuring overalls changes, not just reductions.

Not sure if this means that we will still have to report PM10?

Personally I think it’s a bit of a smoke screen. We’ll still have to provide information as picked up by the data scans, caseloads, speed of processing, accuracy, average awards, etc

    Same meat, different gravy.

Agreed Phil, only this time we’ll be submitting blind unless the Software suppliers come up with some extracts we can see prior to submission.

We will be using the Sungard Aspiren Bridge tool to view the data scan info in detail prior to submission

as it will auto-flag anomolies it takes the headache out of submission

A side effect of the [quote:0236b8bf6d]Sungard Aspiren Bridge tool [/quote:0236b8bf6d] is unfortunately that you start to see double, perhaps? 😉

Aspiren is still relient on Stats 124 data being produced by your system and how long will the software houses continue to support this when they don’t need to?

I’m told the Aspiren Bridge product will import your monthly scan and that our supplier (Northgate) should be producing an xml version of the scan enabling its import into Bridge. The advantage of Bridge for me, is that if approval is given by the DWP we can submit the scan electronically through Bridge. No more couriers and no need to rush into alternative methods of data transmission such as Government Connect.
For Northgate users out there Northgate are currently promoting their new product to be released in March 2008 that will load your scan, allow you to derive management information and stats and crucially amend data at case level prior to re-running the scan before submission. I’m told the amended data will be fed back into the main Northgate system.

All HB suppliers are already producing a monthly HBSD/IAD extract in .csv format; the Sungard tool takes this existing file (and will take the new files described below) and will perform all DWP based derivation rules against this extract and generates the equivalent of a Stats 121/122 or 124.

As I understand it this process will continue from April 2008, however the HBSD/IAD extract will be replaced by a monthly ‘single HB Extract’ in .csv format and a quarterly HBRF (fraud and overpayment data, also .csv format) which between them will encompass all of the attributes of the previous monthly HBMS and HBSD/IAD extracts.

HB suppliers are all working to this April 2008 ‘single HB extract’ and the DWP have recently announced funding to ensure the supplier extracts are both accurate and timely. My view here is that the DWP funding available should be sufficient for us to provide both the back office provider extract and the independent checking and validation via the Sungard tool. 😆
