I was struck by this about the April changes…..

Sally Causer the Director of the Southwark Legal Advice Network who provide advice across the borough commented “ In recent weeks we have been overwhelmed by enquiries from families worried about how they are going to pay their rent after April. Last month we held an information event jointly with Southwark Council. Attendance was astonishing with queues out of the door and standing room only at times. We had to draft in extra advisers to cope with the demand.

Same north of the border. The story doesn’t make it clear but under occupation is emerging as the the biggest concern.

As mentioned at conference and elsewhere on this site, the architect of the Poll Tax opposition, Tommy Sheridan, is mobilising the campaign opposing this vile cut. Could it bring down the government in the same way as poll tax spelled the end for Mrs Thatcher?

While I know that there are those who dont think the SNP will win the Independence vote, including my wife who’s a Scot, I have a strong suspicion that the Benefits Cuts may well affect the outcome

Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen nineteen and six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery. The blossom is blighted, the leaf is withered, the god of day goes down upon the dreary scene, and—and in short you are for ever floored.
