Query received on our online enquiry section.

“I am trying to claim Housing Benefits from you using your online form.  However your system doesn’t recognise my address in Cyprus.  What do I do next?”   đŸ™‚

There’s a Cyprus in east London down in the docklands next to Beckton. I hope they can still claim.

Where have you been for the past 2 years?

Every HB recipient in London has to give up their rented mansions, (supplied courtesy of hardworking taxpayers) and move to a beach hut or disused garage in Jaywick.

    Try to keep up! đŸ™‚

Sea views, semi-rural location, convenient for traditional seaside attractions of Clacton. What’s not to like about Jaywick?

For really effective punishment of London scroungers, send ’em to Frinton! There goes the neighbourhood …

    Severn Beach anyone?

Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen nineteen and six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery. The blossom is blighted, the leaf is withered, the god of day goes down upon the dreary scene, and—and in short you are for ever floored.

I spent many a long summers day in Jaywick as a child…..and I don’t mean long in a nice way. Now Walton-on-the-Naze is a completely different kettle of fish.

New Quay, Wales. I knew people who used to go to Severn Beach for weeks at a time. Voluntarily because they had built the Severn Bridge by then so they could get home easily!

Bridport and Clevedon are both very nice.

Burnham on Sea on the other hand – or worse still, Barry – the only town famous for its scrapyard

There was a package holiday offered to Romanians – two weeks in Severn Beach!
