Good Afternoon everyone, could I ask for some help please. This CL was awarded tax credits, the award was subsequently nilled as HMRC advised they had been overpaid. Does this mean that the tax credits she would have been paid should be used as income or because they have now stopped they should not be used as income.

    Many thanks
    Lisa

See Peter’s post from this morning:

(there are several more threads if you search for ‘overpaid tax credits’)

Basically, life is unfair. They count as income at the rate they were paid, regardless of whether the claimant has to pay them back. Maybe at some point, they’ll find themselves in receipt of tax credits and HB/CTB again, and everything will balance out. Unlikely though 8)
