I’ve been asked to find out the latest situation on cases where the partner does not have a NINO. Has the DWP’s appeal against the Soc Sec Comms decision been heard yet?

We’ve got a number of cases where we’re still paying HB on [where the partner does not have a NINO] and need an update on what we should be doing. From what I understand, the DWP’s guidance was to [i:9bbff0eb5e]not[/i:9bbff0eb5e] pay these until the appeal outcome is known, but I’ve been advised that we decided not to penalise claimants by suspending claims until we know the outcome.

Can someone give me an update please!

Appeal has been heard; partner does need a Nino (or has to provide details to allow NINO to be allocated).
