    Hi

Can anyone help please, we have had several cases where the claimant has applied for council tax benefit, but we were unable to award benefit as the property was unbanded. It has taken the VO 3 months to provide a banding. When we have processed these claims the number of days taken to process has been from the date of the benefit application was received by us to the date we assess and counts this as the number of days taken.

Does anyone know if this is correct as we seem to be penalised for the VO taking so long to provide a banding. Or does anyone know of a different route we should be taking.

    Many thanks April Louch 😯

[quote:823e9e0745]the clock starts ticking on the date the Council Tax payable is notified to the Benefits section[/quote:823e9e0745]

    See HB/CTB Circular A5/2007, paragraph 22 [i:823e9e0745]et seq[/i:823e9e0745].

Depending on what computer system you use, there should be date fields which allow you to get the correct number of days counted.
