    Hello Lovlies….

Im aware that of the permitted earnings disregasrd – but not sure when it kicks in – is it as simple as this – if the customer is on IB or ESA and working then those earnings are treated as permitted earnings and the first £90ish disregarded???

If its not that simple – what needs to be satisfied in order to trigger the permitted earning disregard from the earned income.

I dont ever remeber inputting one (in almost 21 years) which makes me think Im missing something…..

For HB/CTB, the DWP must be satisfied it is “exempt work”. In other words, a LA cannot unilaterally determine what is, or is not, exempt work.

As an aside, if the DWP is satisfied a claimant is undertaking exempt work, it can be properly argued such work does not need to be disclosed to the LA.
