To boost our DD take-up we are considering offering a Prize Draw to people who take up/pay by this method.
Has anyone out there done a similar thing? If so, please could you share your experiences both good and bad.

Yes, we’ve tried that in Moray. We’re currently in the second year of the scheme. We organise three draws per year. In each draw we pick ten winners from our Council Tax-payers who pay by direct debit (there are a number of qualifying conditions, amongst which is that at least three instalments must have been paid, there can be no arrears, and that the Council Tax payer is a *natural* person [i.e. not a company or a firm]).

Each winner gets presented with a £100 grocery shopping voucher for the store of their choice.

It is hard to qualtify the success of the prize-draw scheme. But the bottom-line is that in each year of its operation our direct debit take-up has increased.

If you want more information on this scheme, please just e-mail me.

    James
